“Homeless Year Round Not Just At Christmas”
We’ve had some scorching high temps this summer and we got the word out as quickly as we could when we found out that Boise’s homeless needed basic summer survival gear. We are thankful that so many of you rallied and dropped off an abundance of bottled water to the local shelters. 107.9 Lite FM was also a drop off location and yesterday Kevin and I loaded up the back of our truck (after finishing up our after work bike ride) with all the water, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen that y’all had donated and ran it over to the Corpus Christi day shelter. I had the chance to talk to several people and they wanted to make sure I passed along to you their sincere thanks and that it gave them hope that you had not forgotten them. I also saw at least three babies under the age of one and their mother’s were so thankful to receive the 50+ spf baby block sunscreen for their little ones.
One of the men who helped me haul water into the shelter said that it meant a lot to him that people recognized that there are people who are “homeless year round and not just at Christmas.”
