The theme from Harry Potter is one of the most well known orchestral works in the world.  Seeing it performed by a live orchestra is breath taking, but seeing it performed by a live orchestra with the entire movie playing behind them?  That's a once in a lifetime experience!

One that you can share with the biggest Harry Potter fan in your family this weekend at the Morrison Center! Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is scheduled for two performances this Saturday: 1:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.  During the performance, guest conductor John Beal will lead the Boise Philharmonic through the entire John Williams score to the first Harry Potter movie while the movie plays behind them.  The audio on the movie is up during the concert, so you'll get to experience the film in its entirety!

I had the chance to catch up with John Beal, the guest conductor, who's leading the Philharmonic through the performance this weekend and it's absolutely incredible the way that they put this performance together.  When I was in orchestra, we played some film scores to a montage of clips and just hoped we ended when the video piece ended.

Trying to keep close to 100 musicians on beat for an almost 2.5 hour movie? That's a completely different challenges and the way that Beal does that is fascinating!
