That subject line kind of sounds gross, but it's true!

I’ve been reading more and more about these studies that are focused on our guts.  I was a little skeptical at first, but more and more research indicates that the right germs in our guts can help us fight obesity.

According to an article in the Huffington Post, “different kinds of bacteria that live inside the gut can help spur obesity or protect against it.”  It comes down to what we eat.  It doesn’t mean go out and eat a bunch of yogurt as that isn’t the cure to bad bacteria, but rather working towards a balanced and healthy diet free of toxins.

Toxins would include, sugar, artificial additives, dyes and flavorings.  Look at the ingredients on the label. If there’s a laundry list of items you don’t understand, sugar and other dyes and additives, leave it on the shelf and run in the other direction.  Shop the outside aisles of the grocery store.  That’s where the fresh produce and more healthy options for our diet live.  Also look to organic foods.  They’re becoming more and more affordable and a way better alternative to packaged, processed food.

Fast food is also a huge no-no.  There’s another great article on this topic, click here to read more.

What you invest in now as far as food and exercise will inevitably be less than that hospital stay for diabetes, a heart condition or cancer down the road!

Dr. Stephen Baker is on the show with me Thursday, February 19th where we’ll talk about toxins in our food and water that can lead to problems with our health and hormones.  He’s also heading up a conference this Saturday all about weight loss and how you can lose 20 pounds in 30 days and do it in a healthy way.   Click here for the Prehab phone number and to buy your tickets.

Make it a healthy day!
