Greater Idaho Orchid Sale and Show

Host Magic Valley Orchid Society and sponsors invite you to the Greater Idaho Orchid Show and Sale, September 27 and 28 at the Best Western Vista Inn, 2645 W. Airport Way, Boise, Idaho.

We wish to promote growers and collectors goals, those who are interested in the study and culture of orchids that can be grown in Idaho, to share ideas and experiences relating to the education of growing orchids and to further promote the conservation of orchids with the public and to participate in public and private orchid exhibitions. Remember, we all started with one plant.

Saturday hours 10:00 - 6:00 and Sunday 10:00 - 4:00. Cost for admission is $2.00. There will be a silent auction for bidding and raffle tickets will be available for purchase.

We invite ALL OR ANYONE who has an orchid that they would like to have judged by American Orchid Society Judges to bring their plants for registration from noon to 7:00 pm Friday, September 26, 2014. No plants will be accepted after 7:00 pm Friday. Everyone is invited to enter their plants as this is a bench show and no theme and no individual displays will be set up. Judging will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27.

We have some very exciting vendors for this show which include Ecuagenera, from Ecuador and Florida; Botanica Limited from Missoula, Montana; An Orchid Affair, Boise, Idaho; Jolah Orchids of Ontario, Oregon; Crist Orchids of Nampa Idaho; Jim's Orchids of Payette, Idaho; and Pottery by Kathie of Twin Falls, Idaho.

Seminars will run as follows:
Saturday: 1:00 - Brenda from Botanica Limited will speak on the care and growing of angraecoids and species not readily available that are critically endangered in nature. 2:30 - Alan Porter the Orchid Dr. will speak on the Native Orchids of Idaho. Repotting will take place from 12:00 - 5:00. No cymbidiums please. Sunday: 11;00 - Carol from An Orchid Affair will speak on basic orchid care. 1:00 Native Orchids of Idaho. 2:15 Jim from Jolah Orchids will speak on Basic Orchid Care.
