If you're active duty military or a veteran, you can score some extra discounts this Fourth of July at some great spots around the Treasure Valley.

Don't miss these chances to save some money for your family and get some freebies too.

Just take your Military ID card or Veterans Administration card with you to prove your service, and these places will show you a little love this week with a discount to say thanks.  USA Today says sometimes this military discount will be top of what they offer year-round.

MILITARY DISCOUNTS:

Advance Auto Parts:  This is one of the wider discounts.  They have 10 percent off regularly priced items for in-store purchases for active-duty, reserve and retired status members, all veterans receiving VA benefits, spouses and dependent children up to 18 with proof of military status.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's will give you a 5 percent everyday military discount.

Denny's: It's a 10 percent discount with a valid military ID year-round at most locations.

Papa Murphy’s: They've got military discounts that vary by location, so don't forget to ask while you're in there buying a pizza and some cookie dough.

Sears: Active military members and veterans get 20 percent off regular-priced merchandise and 5 percent off sale prices for tools and lawn and garden merchandise.

Sherwin-Williams: This is a year-round 15 percent military discount for active military, veterans, and their spouses. And this is a big home improvement week and weekend.

T-Mobile: They have a special military plan that gives 50 percent off family lines for all military and veterans.

Tractor Supply: Tomorrow for the 4th of July, they'll give a 15 percent discount to veterans and active military personnel and their dependents.  Just make sure you have the proof of service.

Nike:  This is another one that casts a wide net.  Active, veteran, retired and reservists, spouses, and dependents of active personnel can use a 10 percent military discount at Nike.com and Nike, Converse and Hurley stores if you happen to be near one.  Since Lebron James is moving to the Lakers, you need some new shoes.  Or something like that.

And last but not least, a discount that includes military and first responders.

Outback Steakhouse: Through tomorrow, active military, veterans, police officers and firefighters get 20 percent off. There’s also a 10 percent everyday Heroes Discount for the same group.

Don't let the discounts pass you by!  You deserve the extras as we all celebrate freedom and independence this week.  Have a really great Fourth of July.
