Did you get sick after swimming?
Swimming is being discouraged in the pond at Eagle Island State Park while the water quality is being tested. Several families have complained saying they became sick with fevers/vomiting/diarrhea within a day or two of being in or near the water. Although test results aren’t in yet, it isn’t uncommon for “Crypto” (which is short for cryptosporidiosis) to rear it’s ugly head at some point each summer here in the Treasure Valley. “Crypto” is actually a parasite that usually comes from bird droppings that are naturally in ponds and lakes. Accidently swallow some water while playing or splashing about or just forget to wash your hands before enjoying your picnic and you could become infected.
