If you or your family is like mine, one of the things you love about living in the Treasure Valley is the chance to float the Boise River.  Now, we could get even more room to do it.

There is talk of expanding the section of the river that's approved and safe for floating from the current end at Ann Morrison Park, all the way to Veterans Memorial Park.  It all centers on improvements to Whitewater Park that have already begun.

The Idaho Statesman has an update on Whitewater Park's second phase, which will be adding additional wave-shaping ability and features to the current that Boise Parks and Recreation provide for surfers, boarders, and kayakers currently enjoy.

Once this second phase is complete, there are already concepts for a third phase, and part of that concept would allow river floaters to safely pass the dam that currently requires getting out at Ann Morrison Park.

Repair work on the banks of the river is currently underway as part of the work on Phase Two.  The third phase, at this point, is just an idea.  The new wave-making features will be installed and operational in late summer 2018.

The expanded float route could become a part of the development of Phase Three plans, and for many of us, would be a welcome addition to something we already love and look forward to every summer.
