Christmas Wish Potato Gleaning

This is an affordable and productive way to feed your family and help other families at the same time!  Here are all the details:

What is "gleaning?" - It's a surprisingly FUN activity for the whole family and kids absolutely LOVE doing this!  After the large farm equipment has gone over the field and harvested the crop you get the opportunity to go into the field on foot and pick up the potatoes.   Some people prefer to use their hands, others prefer to bring rakes, shovels or small hand held garden tools to unearth the potatoes.  There will be millions of potatoes available and some are simply sitting on top of the ground!

Here's what you need to know:

Oct. 2nd - Friday 3p-7p

Oct. 3rd - Saturday  8a-7p

Located near the corner of Chinden and Linder in Meridian across from Fred Meyer.

Parking will be available in the field adjacent to the potato field - just look for the signs.

$10 suggested donation - per vehicle to get as many potatoes as you want/need.

Can't afford $10 - that's okay - come out and gather as many potatoes as you need to feed your family.

Food banks and churches are welcome to come out and get a truckload of potatoes for just $10 per vehicle.

All proceeds benefit the 107.9 Lite FM Christmas Wish Fund for families in crisis situations.

Don't forget some water so you'll stay hydrated and wear shoes and clothing suitable for working and walking in a farmer's field - cuz that's exactly what you'll be doing.  We will have bathroom facilities available because  PortaPros is donating the use of their porta-potties again this year.

Bring bags/boxes or plastic totes to take your potatoes home in.

Eat on site - The Rusty Dog food truck will be selling gourmet corn dogs and mini doughnuts. 10 percent of all food sales will be donated to Christmas Wish.
