Former BSU football player Derek Boles is facing felony charges for doing a Mike Tyson.  He bit off a chunk of a man's ear.

 

Back in February Boles was asked to leave the Boise State University football team for a violation of team rules.  He was involved in a fight at a house on East Raintree Drive where he bit he bit the ear of the man he was fighting which ended up tearing a portion of the ear off.  The victim was treated at a Boise Hospital.

 

Boles had a warrant issued on April 4 and he was arrested on May 9 in Polk County, Florida.  No word yet on his bond or extradition.

 

Boles was part of the 2014 recruiting class and appeared in all 13 Bronco games for the 2015 season.  He was a defensive tackle with 11 tackles, a sack, and four tackles for a loss.  Here's a quote released by the Boise State Athletic Director Curt Apsey.

 

"Our coaches hold our student-athletes to high standards as representatives of our teams, the University and the community. We educate student-athletes to make good decisions and treat people with dignity and respect. this is part of our culture, and those who do not meet these standards will face consequences for their actions, including potentially losing the opportunity to compete for Boise State."
