Before you freak out, let me explain.

Bronco Nation is still flying high after the thrilling 24-17 win over ranked Mountain West foe, Fresno State.  The Broncos went into that game as the underdog beside having a home field advantage on "The Blue," but they pulled off the upset and turned some heads! Sunday, the AP Poll had the Broncos re-enter the polls at #23 and the Amway Coaches Poll at #24.

But the biggest news? The College Football Playoff Committee liked what they saw from the Broncos too! They ranked us #25 in this week's poll! I was so excited that I frantically started looking for where we might have our Bowl Game this year.  Vegas is always nice (and warm) this time of year.  A few other people mentioned the Arizona Bowl. The Statesman threw the New Mexico Bowl into the conversation too.

Unfortunately when my hopes were as deflated as one Tom Brady's footballs during "Deflate Gate" when I looked at the predictions.

Out of four national sports sites I looked at, including ESPN, three of them predicted that we wouldn't be traveling at all this year...unless you consider the "Bronco Walk" through the practice field and tailgate lot traveling. That's right.  Boise State could be playing their bowl game on "The Blue" this year in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Friday, December 21. Potential opponents include: Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.

The Potato Bowl's not the worst right? It'd probably the most well attended game by that name in history. Prior to 2011, it was called the Humanitarian Bowl and Boise State appeared in it four times. Plus Simplot always pulls out their huge fryer to give away over 5,000 pounds of free fries to tailgaters on game day and we love free fries.

Of course, if Boise State wins against New Mexico this Friday and can produce a little more of that smurf turf magic against #23 Utah State in the last regular season home game, we could be back in the "group of five" conversation...so who knows where we'd end up then!

But for now, we sit, wait and plan on cramming hand warmers into our gloves, shoes and pants for a cold, cold Boise bowl game.
