In a day and age where brick and mortar stores are struggling to keep up from competition from online retailers like Amazon, another department store has filed for bankruptcy.

According to KTVB, Sears Holdings has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will add 142 more store closures to a previous list of 46 that they were already planning to liquidate.  A document revealing those 142 closures does include the Sears Store inside Boise Towne Square Mall.  At this time it's not clear when the mall location will shut its doors for good, but liquidation sales could start popping up as early as two weeks from now.

Sears Holdings is also the parent company of Kmart stores.  They closed the final Kmart store in the Treasure Valley (on Caldwell Blvd in Nampa) last August.

At this time it does not appear that the Sears Hometown stores in Boise, Nampa or Mountain Home will be affected by the bankruptcy filing.
