It happened a day later than expected, but the first flakes of the season are flying in the Treasure Valley!

In 2015, Bogus Basin didn't have enough snow for a full opening until mid-December. Despite the first snow of the season falling on October 17th last year, the mountain still didn't open for full operation until December 10th last year.  But with how weird last winter was and how obnoxiously hot it was this summer, we have no idea what to expect in 2017!

This year the first snowfall of the season fell a month earlier than last! Bogus tweeted this picture just after 10 a.m. this morning.

They also shared this photo of their snow gauge on Facebook.

While today's snowfall is just a dusting, a mix of rain and snow showers is in the forecast on the mountain all the way through Saturday afternoon.

Some Bogus fun facts? Their latest opening date came in 2011, when chair lift didn't start operations until January 17th. In 2015, the resort had enough snow to open for weekend only skiing on Black Friday. Over the past 47 years, the earliest Bogus Basin has opened was mid-November.

Thanks to Snowmageddon, Bogus had enough snow to extend the ski season well into late April this spring. There's signs of another La Nina winter hitting the Pacific Northwest which means, they could very well be preparing for another record ski season.
