This mountain lion has been spotted in residential areas making this a much more risky situation than if we knew when and where a mountain lion was up in the hills.  In those cases, officials just ask we stay away from the area for a while but this could be something very different.

KTVB reports that according to Boise Police, the mountain lion has been seen near the 3700 block of Sweet Pea Court in East Boise.  We know at least one woman has come forward saying the mountain lion was prowling around her property and the Boise Police have brought in Idaho Fish and Game to help with the search.

Mountain lions generally stay away from people so DO NOT approach, attempt to feed or antagonize the lion if you see it.  Immediately contact the authorities and stay clear.  KTVB gives us some pointers on what to do if you spot a wild animal...

  • Do not leave small children or pets outside unattended.
  • Install motion-sensitive lighting around the house.
  • Don't allow pets outside around dawn, dusk and at night as mountain lions are most active during those times.
  • Also bring pet food inside to avoid attracting raccoons, possums, and other potential mountain lion prey.
