Netflix Is Testing Advertisements, But It’s Not as Bad as You Might Think
One of chief glories of Netflix is the ability to pay $7.99 a month for unlimited access to the Netflix Instant catalogue without the hassle of ads — unlike Hulu, which still makes its subscribers sit through ads even though they pay a monthly fee. But Netflix subscribers may not be ad-free for much longer. The good news: the ads are for Netflix’s original programming. The bad news: they’re still ads.
Disney’s Live-Action Tinker Bell Movie Casts Reese Witherspoon as ‘Tink’
Add yet another live-action project to Disney’s growing pile: the studio is developing a live-action film for Peter Pan’s magical sidekick Tinker Bell, who has earned a rather large following in her own right with various animated films and merchandise. In addition to the announcement of this new development, we’ve also learned that Disney has performed a little casting magic, landing Reese Witherspoon for the title role — which is some seriously perfect casting.

‘Minions’ Trailer: Travel Through Time With Your Favorite Sidekicks
Giving the little yellow sidekicks from the Despicable Me films was inevitable, but at least Minions looks fun. ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Trailer: The Boys Are Back, and This Time They’ve Got Puns
The first teaser for Magic Mike XXL was a glorious thing of hilarious beauty, perfectly deploying Ginuwine’s “Pony” and promising that yes, this is a sequel we want to see. Now the first full trailer has landed online, and it is super pun-heavy, but also pretty charming and funny, as the gang returns with a few new additions for a rowdy road trip adventure.
How ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Abruptly Killed Off an Important Character and Enraged Its Fanbase
Last night, Grey’s Anatomy fans were heartbroken and shocked to discover that one of their favorite, most enduring characters would be killed off in the newest episode — hours before it even aired. Thanks to a mistake made by Entertainment Weekly, the death of Patrick Dempsey’s Dr. Derek Shepherd (aka “McDreamy”) was well-known before audiences had the chance to watch the episode. That should have taken some of the sting out by allowing them to prepare for the tragic, abrupt death of Shepherd, but instead it only served to exacerbate outrage.
New Netflix Instant Releases: May 2015
It’s time again to ready your queues, as Netflix prepares to add a bunch of new titles to their streaming service. Coming up in May, we’ve got the new original series Between and Grace and Frankie, as well as classic films, new favorites, and acclaimed hits like Inglourious Basterds and Fruitvale Station. Read on for our guide to the new releases hitting Netflix Instant in May.
‘American Sniper’ Becomes the Highest-Grossing Film of 2014
There are moments that define a nation. Moments that show us the kind of Americans we really are. Today, we’ve brought shame on our great nation: Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper has surpassed The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Guardians of the Galaxy as the highest-grossing film of 2014. How did we let this happen? How did we let a robot baby with an uncanny valley where its face should be defeat Katniss Everdeen and Baby Groot? How?
Chris Evans’ Captain America and Chris Pratt Visited a Children’s Hospital
Now here are some true heroes in action. Chris Evans won his Super Bowl bet with Chris Pratt last month, resulting in Pratt paying a visit to a children’s hospital dressed as Star-Lord. Be that as it may, Evans still decided to don his Captain America costume and visit a children’s hospital, too. That’s just the Captain America way.
Ultimate ‘Avengers’ Marathon Will Screen All 11 Marvel Movies Back-to-Back
If you’re a Marvel fan and preparing for Avengers: Age of Ultron, chances are you’re thinking now is a good time to start revisiting the MCU movies—in order, obviously—before May 1. AMC and Regal are here to help you out with that with their massive Marvel movie marathon, all leading up to the premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Here’s the thing, though: you’ll be watching every one of these movies in one sitting, so you should probably bring one of those donut-shaped butt pillows.
