Albertsons Opens Newest Store in Boise; Check Out Our Sneak Peek

"The lazy person in me already loves it here!"

Those were my exact words as Kathy gave us sneak peek of the newest Albertsons store on Broadway in Boise.  The new store at 1219 S. Broadway Avenue officially opens to the public at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 20 and shoppers are in for a treat!

So, why do I say the lazy person in me is thrilled to have this store in my neighborhood? With a wedding just 15 days away, a shuffled around work schedule due to co-workers being on vacation and training for another marathon, I am absolutely wiped.  I almost cried when my night to cook rolled around this week.  There wasn't enough food in the house for me to whip something us, so I begrudgingly went to the grocery store for ingredients. Between the shopping trip and actual cooking time, that's an hour of my life I'm never getting back, when I really didn't have an hour to give.

Enter the new Albertsons to have my back! Yes, I can buy the same ingredients here as I can at the Parkcenter location near my apartment...but if I don't want to cook, I don't have to! The new store has several full service food counters, where I can grab warm pizza, flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, sushi, poke bowls, etc. Talk about a time saver!  Or, if I want to cook but not go aisle to aisle grabbing ingredients, I can always grab one of the Plated meal kits they offer.  Similar to other food boxes, Albertsons acquired Plated in 2017 but has never offered the kits in stores until the opening of the Broadway location.

When I cook, I often shy away from recipes when I see an ingredient that makes me go "I have no idea what that is, how to pronounce it or where to find it in the store." At the new Albertsons, that's not going to be a problem! They offer some really exotic ingredients on top of the products you would find in the other stores.  We're talking a ginormous cheese section, meats like alligator, frog legs, wild boar and goat. They've even got an aisle that breaks up spices and products into different regions of the world like the Basque Country, Italy, etc.

And I never thought these words would come out of my mouth...I can't wait to grab a drink at Albertsons.  On the second floor of the store, they have a full service bar aptly named "Broadway on the Rocks" where patrons can enjoy their dinner, beer, wine or spirit.  It's got a ton of TVs inside the bar and a roll up door that extends the bar into a huge patio.  The patio's also got some giant television screens up there. I foresee my fiance and I spending a lot of time relaxing here after the wedding.  And if you want to catch the end of a different college football game on your way over to Albertsons Stadium, this is going to be an awesome destination to stop at on your way there!

That's just a glimpse of what the new store is offering the community.  It's also got a Starbucks, concierge services, huge selection of local brands and products and an in store dietitian.  It's open to the public now, but their grand opening celebration with live music, hourly give-aways and free samples is on Saturday from 9:15 a.m.-9 p.m. Get the full schedule HERE.
