A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Shelley

LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union. Our third wish went to Shelley, an amazing mom, wife and grandma.

Nominated by her daughter, Brenda, Shelley is the glue that holds her family together. This holiday season, she's caring for all generations of her family from her mother to her great granddaughter.

Shelley's the primary care giver to her husband who had a stroke a few years ago and her mother who suffers from dementia.  Watching my fiance's parents go through a similar decline has been heart breaking and the stress of watching someone you love fade away before your eyes is one of the hardest thing a child will ever have to do. Caring for someone living with dementia is hard enough even when you have a decent income coming into the home.  Unfortunately, Shelley had to give up her job to be home with her husband and mother.

She gets a little financial help from her son and granddaughter who also live in the home, but finding enough money to keep the bills paid and food on the table has proven to be difficult.  Brenda would love to help her mother out, but is still trying to recover from an ankle surgery herself.  That's where we were able to step in to help an incredibly selfless person!
