LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union. Our 17th wish went to Scott, a great dad who's having a difficult time with his job search.

Things felt very different when I called our latest Christmas Wish elf this morning.  Brandon's a familiar voice on LITE-FM and you're used to hearing him make the LITE-FM Pop Quiz sound like a piece of cake. This morning, he traded in his trivia knowledge for an elf hat and introduced us to his dear friend, Scott.

Scott had worked in sales for more than 15 years when he was laid off about a year ago.  With three kids and a wife that he truly adores at home, he hoped to rebound quickly and lock down a new job.  Unfortunately, the job search hasn't been easy.  He's looking to transition out of sales and seems to be getting passed over for the jobs that he's applied for in favor of younger candidates.  Any job that he thinks he'd be a fit for, he applies for and has hustled to try to get his foot in the door through job fairs.

He's still on the hunt, but picked up working as a ride share driver for Uber and Lyft in between running his two teenagers and 10 year-old to their activities.  It's bringing in some income, but Scott's been driving hours that it's beginning to affect his knees to the point where they might need surgery to relieve fluid from building up on them.

The family's steady stream of income is coming from his wife Cindi, who works for an airline making reservations for travelers.  He says that she is his rock and he admires her for the way she selflessly stepped up to take overtime hours, often working over 60 hours a week.

Money's a little tight with only one steady income in the home and Brandon wanted to make sure that his friends were able to buy gifts for their kids and spend some time together as a family this holiday season without it becoming more of a financial burden on them.

That's where we stepped in and loaded up Jeff Connell into the Team Subaru of Nampa Forester Delivery Sleigh! He stopped by to surprise Scott and Cindi with a $200 gift card to get their kids Christmas gifts, enough passes for them to enjoy the New Year's Eve Party at Wahooz and Pinz, the lights at Winter Garden aGlow and some tubing together at Gateway Parks at Eagle Island.  Both parents have been working so hard to find a way to provide for their kids that they more than deserve a night off from cooking, so our friends from Smokey Mountain Pizzeria Grill wanted to make dinner for them too!
