A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Amanda

LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union. Our 14th Christmas Wish went to Amanda, a single mother who was surprised to find her and her two little girls without a home on Halloween.

When the Potato dropped to welcome the start of 2018, Amanda never saw the whirlwind of a year that she's experienced coming.  Two months ago, Amanda's husband went to work and never came home.  He walked out on her and their two little girls who are both under the age of 10.

Amanda tried to keep a smile on her face and stay strong for a girls.  On Halloween night, she took them trick-or-treating to grab a huge haul of Snickers, Milk Ways and other goodies.  When they returned home, Amanda found the worst "trick" of all on her door.  Her now ex-husband had stopped paying the mortgage on their home in February and the house that this little family called home was now in foreclosure.

Luckily, Amanda's surrounded by some amazing family members who are making sure they have a place to stay while she figures out how to get them back on their feet on her salary as a home caretaker for disabled individuals. Kristy, her sister-in-law, is one of those family members who loves her very much and asked if there was anything we could do for Amanda to help brighten the end of what's been a very bleak year for her and her girls.

We piled Jeff Connell into the Team Subaru of Nampa Forester Delivery Sleigh to drop off a surprise for Amanda to look through when she got off work for the day.  She received a $150 Walmart Gift Card to use for whatever is most beneficial for the family - gifts, groceries, clothes.  We also wanted to make sure that her kids got a chance to spend a fun Christmas themed evening with mom so they'll be off to Winter Garden aGlow and will enjoy lunch from our friends at Soup Kettle Grill and dinner at Smokey Mountain Pizzeria Grill.  Finally, we though that it was important to start 2019 off on a positive note for everyone, so our friend Tiffany at Wahooz gifted Amanda and her girls some special invites to the big New Year's Eve Bash at both Wahooz and Pinz!
