Five Signs that Summer is Over in Boise
With a high of 100º today and temperatures in the upper 90s through Labor Day weekend, it may not seem like summer is over in the Treasure Valley, but these are five classic signs that fall is coming!
Quite frankly, based off your answers to our question "beside college football, what are you most excited for this fall?" you guys are ready for it. Misha B. and Rachelle B. said that they're ready for the season of "pumpkin everything." Rachelle T., Renne J. and Tanya S. are looking forward to hockey season. (The first Idaho Steelheads home game this season is Friday, October 13th.) The rest of you overwhelming answered NFL football.
Patience, my friends! Fall will be here soon and here's how we know!
The 31st season of Alive After Five comes to a close on Wednesday, August 30th. If you haven't made it down to the newly remodeled Grove Plaza to enjoy a craft beer and live music, this is your last week to do it. Low-Fi and Leeroy Stagger are the last artists to take the stage this summer and you can catch their show between 5-8 p.m.
I'm a little jealous of Jeff Connell and his son, Colton. They spent some quality father-son time on the Boise River the last two weekends. Meanwhile, my fiance and I haven't tried to dig our raft out yet and we're running out of time. Labor Day is the last day for this year's abbreviated float season. Boise River Raft and Tube will have rentals available from 10 a.m - 6 p.m. on Labor Day.
We may have to wait until Friday to find out when the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is coming back to stores, but there's no shortage of pumpkin spice products on the shelves already. The Parkcenter Albertsons already has Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale. My friend Carrie found Pumpkin Life cereal at Costco last weekend. Another friend blew up my phone with photos of creamer and yogurt he found at the Overland Walmart in Boise.
Jen Austin thinks its too early for Halloween candy to be out on store shelves and I have to agree with her. Who's actually buying their trick-or-treat candy before Labor Day? Chances are you're going to either end up putting it in your kiddos lunches or eating all of it yourself before October 31st!
While my fiance was out of town two weeks ago, I decided to wander through Hobby Lobby to get some ideas for fall projects I could make with my Cricut machine. To my surprise, the Eagle Road location seems to be skipping straight to Christmas. Their pre-lit trees, ornaments and more were already on display. Employees were working on adding more Christmas merchandise to the shelves while I was shopping.
