The FitOne Healthy Living Expo at the Boise Centre opens on Thursday at 12 p.m!

If you're signed up for the FitOne 5K/10K/Half Marathon, you'll have to stop by the expo to pick up your bib number and t-shirt, but don't make it a quick stop.  Stick around and explore because there's so much to see and do! Not sure where to start? Here's some ideas to get you off on the right foot!

1) Meet American Ninja Warrior's "Cowboy Ninja" Lance Pekus

Not only does Lance proudly represent the Gem State (more specifically Salmon, ID) on the hit NBC reality series, he's got a pretty inspirational story. During the 2017 season, people began to wonder why his wife, Heather, hadn't been on the sidelines during the qualifying rounds. That's when he revealed that Heather has been battling multiple sclerosis.  Her MS symptoms had gotten to a point where she wasn't able to walk and it became incredibly challenging for her to travel. Through sharing that story, the Pekus family met a new doctor who's been working with Heather and she was able to be by Lance's side in 2018.

Lance is one of the spokesmen for the Idaho Beef Council who's involved with FitOne each and every year! He'll be at the FitOne Healthy Expo on Friday to take pictures with fans and do a presentation on healthy and delicious meal hacks with the beef council.

2) Jump Rope with America's Got Talent Superstars

Who can forget the season of NBC's America's Got Talent where the Treasure Valley's own Summerwind Skippers jump rope team went viral?! Not only will they do a bit of a performance, but 500 kids will get to be part of a FREE jump rope party with the skippers.  You can find them on the Grove Plaza at 6 p.m. on Friday!

3) The Swag

The expo is free, open to the public and gives you a chance to scoop up a bunch of freebies from many of the 50+ vendors that are part of the show.  If you're new to FitOne and the expo, I'll let you in on a little secret...RC Willey has the best swag every year! Last year they were giving away free Hydro Flasks while supplies lasted! In the past they've done everything from top of the line Tupperware to step stools (I still use mine all the time) to umbrellas!

4) Check Out that Workout Class You Were Too Embarrassed to Ask About

During this cycle of marathon training I had to accept the fact that simply running wasn't enough to get me through 26.2 miles feeling good.  I've added some strength and cross training into my routine, something that I wouldn't have done if it weren't for group fitness classes.  I was always nervous about going to a group class because I couldn't really tell what the class was all about from class titles like CW Worx or Body Attack. I finally worked up the courage to ask questions and peek in on classes before diving head first into a class...and I'm so glad that I did! Not only am I stepping my game up by doing something different with my workouts, I've made new friends in group classes! If you want to see what some of the Axiom Fitness classes are all about, they're instructors will be doing demos on Thursday and Friday! Try it. You may like it!

5) Pick Up Your Race Bib/T-Shirt

Like I said...you have to go anyway! But you've got a cool opportunity to get your t-shirt tagged with unique to Boise designs after you pick it up!

The FitOne Expo is open Thursday, September 20 from 12-8 p.m. and Friday, September 21 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Boise Centre.
