I've been fascinated by the house since before I actually moved to the Treasure Valley! I had no idea that it had never ever been on the market before!

I give my dad all the credit for making sure that I wasn't homeless when I moved to Boise seven years ago.  While I was busy BSing my way through my final exams and presentations at college, Dad was online trying to find me a place to live without ever seeing the city.  He found a perfect apartment for me less than half a mile from the station and once he locked that down, he started exploring my new neighborhood via Google Earth.  That's when he noticed a HUGE house not far from my apartment.

That house turned to be the Moore-Cunningham mansion! The house is on the market for the first time since it was built in 1891! The house is almost as old as the state of Idaho itself and according to KTVB, it was designed by the city's first architect with professional training. It was also the first house in the country to use geothermal water to heat both the home and backyard swimming pool.

The house has been with a single family since businessman and banker CW Moore commissioned it's construction over 125 years ago.  It's currently in the hands of Laura Bettis, Moore's great-great granddaughter but she lives and runs a ranch in Valley County.  At this point, it's not practical for her to keep up maintenance on such a huge home that she's not living in.  That's why she made the difficult decision to put the Queen Anne style mansion on the market.

We're not quite sure why iconic homes like this aren't selling in the Boise market.  This specific house has now been on the market for 362 days.  Just down the street from it, the Boise Castle remains up for sale, as well.  The only super fancy home like this that we know sold recently was Camelotview, Velma Morrison's manor that overlooks Ann Morrison Park from Crescent Rim.  That house sold for $1.9 million former Denver Nugget player, Bill Wendlandt.

If I had to guess, it's because of the outrageous price tag on these homes. Take a look at the pictures below to see what you get for a cool $2.4 million!
